The Photo Book ISBN 0 7148 3937 X Various
An interesting book filled with pictures of famous and influential photographers. A book that keeps drawing you back to find new things in its 500 photos.

Better Picture Guide to Travel Photography ISBN 2 88046 325 4 Michael Busselle
Slick presentation make this book a very easy book to read. Glossy pictures and sharp text come together to inspire you to book a holiday and pack your camera. A completely different style to the other books in my libary, but a valuable one none the less.

John Hedgecoe's Complete Guide to Black and White Photography ISBN 1-85585-195-4 John Hedgecoe's
Another fine book, covering all aspects of black and white photography.

John Hedgecoe's Complete Guide to Phtography ISBN 1-85585-280-2 John Hedgecoe's
Probably my most used book. Each chapter is a lesson in photography, staring with colour, texture and shape and ending in portrait's, action and landscapes. Filled with loads of colour photos and documented examples. A great book to own.

John Hedgecoe's Darkroom Techniques ISBN 1-84000-002-3 John Hedgecoe's
A bit of a disapointment. Most of the black and white section of the book was already covered in the previous one. I was expecting more lessons but felt a bit conned. More for the colour user.

Pocket Encyclopedia of Creative Photography ISBN 0-86318-535-5
An encyclopedia of photography covereing everything you can think of. An interesting read, but more of  a reference book.

Creative Black and White Photography ISBN 1-880559-88-9 Bernhard J Suess
An american writer this time. Loads of ideas and well presented examples. A good read if a bit technical at times.

Practical Photography

Magazines also provide a wealth of tips and examples. The best of the bunch is Practical Photography, probably Englands biggest photo mag. All the new kit is reviewed and the photo examples they print provide you with enough enthusiasm to try to recreate the shots.
